Repairability& Tom Sachs

I love the work of Tom Sachs. He is a wonderful craftsman sculptor.

I came across this quote of his:

The legacy of an object lies in its ability to be repaired.

I think repairability is not only necessary, and should be mandatory, but it’s wonderful, repairing stuff instead of throwing it away.

And let those “repair wounds” be visible. A new morality, a new aesthetic.

Van Neistat, Tom Sachs

I absolutely love the YouTube channel of Van Neistat, The Spirited Man. Van is the older brother of Casey Neistat, and the more philosophical of the two. Van Neistat is a filmmaker and tinkerer. He received his training from Tom Sachs, a second discovery. Tom Sachs has a great channel on Vimeo called Tom Sachs. Binge-worthy.
