Otoboke Beaver in Paradiso
I saw Otoboke Beaver in Paradiso last Thursday, July 4th. Arguably the most innovative band in the world.

Steve Albini sadly passed away last month, but he left us a new record. With his band Shellac he produced To All Trains.
It is now available on Touch and Go. On vinyl and on CD.
Of course, we buy vinyl. For Steve.
I still ended up liking the black-and-white images of Money & The Man and Magnetic Spacemen better.
Developed today. Friday seen. I saw lovely bands at the Slachthuis in Haarlem: Money & the Man and Magnetic Spacemen. Both very energetic and good.
This week Steve Albini passed away. For someone of my generation an icon so a shock.
In addition to musician (Big Black, Rapeman, Shellac) and producer (Pixies, Nirvana, PJ Harvey, you name it), he was a music industry critic. He explained how the big record labels abuse musicians but also explained to musicians that they should make the music they want and not let the record companies push them around. Musicians should make music they think is cool and perform.
He explained that in plain language, as square and hermetic as his music.
A striking person I will miss.
In 2017, I took these photos at Shellac’s performance in Vera, Groningen.
I got to know the band Royal Blood only a year or two ago. The vocals have something of Jack White about them. The music is heavy alternative rock, perhaps somewhat in the Muse genre. I thought the band would have at least two rhythm guitarists, but bassist Mike Kerr produces all the guitar sound, assisted by a few cabinets and pedals.
Figure It Out is a classic.

Home – Wandelnetwerk Noord-Holland
I think the best hiking site in the Netherlands. Although there are some wonderfully white spots in the network the discover. For example Amsterdam and the whole area to the west including Haarlem and the coastal area.

We are planning a trip to New Zealand and Japan. Why is “Skyteam Round the World” still suspended?
Skyscanner is great. I would love to see the option that would allow you to specify departure date plus or minus three days, then skyscanner searches for the cheapest option within that time period.

With this software and a Raspberry Pi, the can create your own live monitor for your energy consumption and energy supply. Works great.
Great, original blog on photography.
Pauline Oltheten is wonderful.
Great version of Superstition by a young Stevie Wonder and a band that runs like a machine.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at their best and darkest.
Speaking of dark: Die Antwoord, I Fink U Freeky. Video by Roger Ballen.
Amazing how good they are already at their first gig in ’91.
And there’s nobody there!
And then 2 years later…
